This Privacy Policy explains how the maru app and website collect, use, and protect your personal information. The maru app is developed and operated by Half Full Studios Limited (“Half Full Studios”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in New Zealand (NZBN 9429053822239, company number 9445408). We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Information we collect#
- Account information you provide when you sign up — such as your name, email address, and profile details.
- Content you create — listings, job posts, messages, images, and reviews.
- Usage and device information — app version, device type, operating system, and log data, used to keep the service running and secure.
- Authentication data — we use Firebase Authentication and passkeys (WebAuthn) to sign you in. We never see or store your passkey private keys.
How we use your information#
- To operate the marketplace and job board and show your listings to other users
- To let buyers, sellers, and job posters message each other
- To keep maru safe — detecting fraud, abuse, and prohibited content
- To respond to your support requests
- To send you service-related notifications
We do not sell your personal information.
Sharing and disclosure#
We share information only where needed to run the service, including with:
- Other users, for the content you choose to publish (listings, posts, public profile details)
- Service providers who process data on our behalf — for example hosting, storage, authentication, and subscription providers
- Authorities, where we are legally required to do so
Data storage and security#
Your data is stored on infrastructure located in or accessed from outside New Zealand. We use industry-standard measures to protect it, but no online service can be completely secure.
Your rights#
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you can request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you. You can also delete your account, which removes your profile and listings from the service.

Children#
maru is not intended for children under 16. We enforce strict Child Safety Standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
